Projects
Since we don’t have much snow to speak of so we only have two large teams of dogs to run and three drivers, Mark has been having Steve or Tara (whichever one is left behind or both of them when the JV team has the day off) working on little projects around here. From re-strawing dog houses to cutting and splitting firewood (which is done!) to varnishing our wood dog sleds.
Since I’m only around in sunlight on the weekends and the sun itself has been pretty scrace, I gave Tara the project of getting new photos of the dogs for the website. The ones we currently have, have been up for over a year and I thought it was time for some new ones. Tara found it that this particular project is harder than it sounds as when the dogs see a camera they refuse to sit still and look pretty. I did have to laugh at one she snapped of Jango. It looks like he’s giving Tara the “go ahead, make my day” look.
Even though I’d really like to take the JV Team out today, I’m going to let Steve take them instead. First off, Steve and Tara are leaving on Monday so I’m sure they’d like to get a couple runs in before being gone for a week. Plus I have a ton of cleaning to do around here and Mark would actually like it if I baked him some Christmas cookies (and so might Tara and Steve). I’ll get plenty chances next week to run the dogs and won’t be around the cabin much so I best take advantage of being able to be home while the handlers are still here.
Keep doing your snow dances…our first Mushing 101 weekend has been postponed (thankfully not cancelled) until next month. If you can mke one of your projects getting together with your friends/family for snow dance ball.
